Germany as well as Netherland has banned the use and import of Benzidine Based Dyes and other similar substances. The Benzidine Based Dyes are called Azo Dyes. Appx. 70% of all dyes are Azo Dyes. However , only certain part of such dyes are carcinogenic and prohibited by the new German and Netherland Legislation.
Although the ban is presently being effected by German and Netherland yet similar standards may ge incorporated in European union Code. It has also been gathered that similar concern is also being raised by some other developed countries.

Buyers standard for judging colors

According to Buyers standard the color should be matched in :

Dayligt D65 (Philips TLD 965)
Flourescent "shoplight" TL83 (Philips TLD 830)

Two persons should control the color in a lightbox.
The lightbox must be placed in a dark room or with the possibility of total blackout.

Quality Control
The following inspections will be made by the merchandisers or quality controllers.
FABRIC
when 80% of the bulk fabric is in house for wovens,
when 40% of the bulk fabric is in house for knits.
INITIAL
when 50 - 100 pieces are made. Random selection of all colors and sizes to be done in the stitchin units.
MID
when 50% of the order is done and in the finishing unit, 1 carton packed in mixed assortments, 1 carton packed in solid size/solid color, corrct packing and marking will be checked.
FINAL
100% packed.

All inspectios are to be advised well in advance, so the offices can plan accordingly.

Remember that all communication(telephone, fax and e-mail) regarding the orders is to go directly to the merchandiser in Delhi or Bangalore, not to the office in Mumbai.

Additional chemical compounds or groups of compounds
In addition to above list, generally buyers should not accept any of the below listed chemicals in the production process. If any buyer, as a result of random testing finds any of these compounds, a judgement of suitable action will be made in each individual case. Depending on the type of chemical found, the amounts found, and the type of product in which it was found. A priority will be given to tracing the origin of the chemical and to preventing the same chemical to be found in future orders.
Polychlrinatwedbiphenyls (PCB)
Nonylphenolethoxylates (NFE)
Distearyldimethylammoniumchlorise (DSDMAC)
Brominated or chlorinated flame-retardants (ex. PBB, PBDE, TRIS, TCEP, chloroparaffines)
Chlorinated bleaching agents
Monomers (Only low, undetectable amounts of monomers are allowed in the ready product)
